Topic
In our topic for this term, we will be exploring the question 'Could we survive in Antarctica?'. We will be looking at great explores such as Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton as well as honing survival skills and deepening our knowledge and understanding of geography. Please see the topic web for further information about our topic this term.
PE
PE will be on Thursday afternoons (with Mr Shooman) and Wednesday afternoons afternoons (with Mrs Greenough). Please ensure that the children come into school on these days wearing their school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece.
Homework
Homework will be set weekly on a Friday and is expected to be handed into school the following Friday. This gives the children a week to ensure it is completed. This will also be posted on Google Classroom so that it is accessible at all times for everyone.
I will be available at lunchtimes should anyone need any further help with what has been set. I will only set homework as a recap of learning so the children will have had lessons in school that relate to the home work set. As well as the weekly work set (in the CGP books provided), children are also expected to participate in daily reading, spelling and maths practice as outlined below.
Maths - times table rock stars can be used to help with number fluency as well as a number of online maths games that you can find here.
Reading - The children have each been set up with access to an account through readtheory.org which provides short quizzes to assess their comprehension skills. The children are also expected to engage with daily reading at home, books from school can be taken home for reading pleasure.
Spelling - Weekly spellings will link to a website called spellingframe.co.uk where the children can access online tests to assist them with their learning.
