Active Advent

School closure PE links and documents. Keep active everybody!

Staying active and keeping healthy are really important for our bodies and minds at this time. Currently we are allowed out for the purposes of exercise so hopefully everyone is taking advantage of that and getting out for a run, walk or cycle as often as they can. I have gathered a collection of online resources to help inspire pupils and families with different activities that you can do in the home or outside in a garden too so that we can all keep enthusiastic about keeping fit. The first three links are from parents who homeschool their children on a long term basis and contain lists of activities you could pick from and use as appropriate. They are not written specifically for this time of social distancing so make sure you stick to the current government guidance when doing these!
The next three links are to Joe Wicks online daily PE workout and to Jumpstart Johnny’s website and Youtube hosted daily workout. Jumpstart Johnny is my favourite of these as he uses lots of silly moves and great songs to keep the kids (and adults) motivated.

This last link is for a website with loads of great ideas to keep bodies and minds active. You’ll need to log on to this one to access the resources though.

Hope you and your family enjoy all the activity suggestions for staying fit and healthy.

Take care all, Mr Jones

The National Curriculum states that the aims of PE are to:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • ensure pupils are physically active for a sustained period of time
  • engage in competitive sports and activities
  • lead healthy, active lives

Our PE programme at St. Margaret's addresses these aims through a varied PE curriculum, after school clubs for a range of sports and regular competitions against other schools in the area.

Pupils enjoy PE and the inclusive approach of lessons ensures that all learners are challenged and supported to achieve and progress in a wide range of disciplines.
