Reading

We have created an account at Oxford Owl so that you and your children can access age appropriate reading books.

Login for the class:

Username: yrstmrottingdean

Password: schoolisfun

Please keep to the colour shown on the back/ spine of the book that your child has been reading. This should be shown on the last book they brought home and from the comments in their reading diaries. We assessed the children in the final weeks of school so this is up to date. Please e-mail workathome@stmargarets.brighton-hove.sch.uk if you are not sure on the colour band they are on.

Writing

Every week on Monday there will be a new Home Learning Web with some jobs that will help you to think of some ideas and practise some of your writing skills before using these ideas and skills in a piece of writing.

Have a go at these, I have included some lined pages you can print to do your writing on lower on this page or you can use a notebook that you have at home. Try to do your writing on lined paper to help you show your neatest writing, remember the letters should sit on the line, be the right size so we can tell which are capitals and which are not.

Handwriting Practise

You can log in to the letter join website from home the login details are shown ion the picture below. This is what teachers use to plan handwriting in school.

From the week beginning 20th April 2020, I will include some activities to do each week. For now try and login and see what you like doing. In year 1 we work on the printed letters (lower case and capitals) as well as numbers.

You can find the things we need to practise by going to 'More Letters' in the menu and choosing 'Capitals', 'Printed' or 'Numbers'.
